Next year, we can expect a brand new top quality crossover SUV to hit the market – the 2017 Acura CDX. Acura, the luxury vehicle division of Honda, was launched in 1986. Since then, it has produced vehicles which share Honda’s reputation for excellent build quality and reliability, but which also provide customers with more performance and greater luxury than standard Hondas. It’s first SUV was the SLX, introduced in 1996 (which was based on the Isuzu Trooper), and which was replaced by the popular MDX in 2000. In 2006, Acura brought out the RDX, its first crossover SUV, based on the on the popular Honda CR-V. An all-new crossover, the 2017 Acura CDX, which is will be similar to the RDX, but a little smaller, is to be launched next year.
2017 Acura CDX – Exterior and Interior Design
The 2017 Acura CDX is based on the Honda HR-V crossover, and it will share that car’s compact size and sweeping rear roof line. It can, however, be expected to have bolder styling and a more aggressive grille. The inside of the car will, like all Acura vehicles, be packed with features which will contribute to the comfort, safety and enjoyment of both driver and passengers. The interior is not large (since it is, after all, a compact SUV) but the front is spacious, and even tall passengers can expect to have plenty of room and be comfortable. The back seats of the 2017 Acura CDX are less spacious, but passengers will find that there is a remarkable amount of room for the rear of such a small vehicle. Even better, the Acura CDX 2017 can be expected to feature the HR-V’s “Magic Seats” which allow the seat bottoms of the rear seats to be folded up against the seat backs, so that tall items can be carried. The cargo hold at the back is generous, making this a very practical vehicle suitable for customers with every kind of lifestyle.
2017 Acura CDX – Engine and Performance
Acura vehicles are well-known for their great engines. The engines for the car has not yet been announced, but there will be no problems with performance. We can expect at least a 2.4 liter unit giving 184 hp (as is standard in the current Honda CR-V) which would give acceleration from 0 to 60 mph of about 7.0 seconds and a top speed of 117 mph. Honda engines are noted for their efficiency, and if fitted with this engine, the Acrua CDX could expect to get 27/34 mpg. If the 2017 Acura CDX is fitted with the more powerful 3.5 liter V6 that is featured in the larger Acura RDX, then it would take about 6 seconds to get to 60 mph, but fuel economy would fall to 20/28 mpg. There will probably be an all-wheel drive version, available, but this would be optional.
2017 Acura CDX – Price and Release Date
Neither the price nor the release date of the Acura SUV has yet been announced. It is expected that it will go on sale some time during 2017, and the price will probably start at about $30,000, making the Acura CDX about $6,000 less than an Acura RDX, and competitive with other cars in this market.
