Just like Toyota sells luxury vehicles under the tag name Lexus, for Nissan it is Infiniti. The Japanese car giant targets its Infiniti lineup of cars at buyers seeking luxury on wheels. The Infiniti QX70 made its debut way back in 2003 and then it was sold as Infiniti FX. The second generation was unveiled in 2008 and a facelift was launched in 2011. The QX70 2017 comes with a new variant called Limited. It sports some important enhancements and compelling features to stave off competition. It is available in single trim level though customization options exist.
2017 Infiniti QX70 – External Body Parts and Inner Cosmetic Changes
In 2016, the Infiniti QX70 2017 was not changed much but in 2017 model, the changes in design are evident. The SUV sports a new redesigned mesh grille and the two-tone lower bumper is also eye-catching. You will also find newer LED strip lamps on the bumper. Rear side of the car gets combination lamps. The 2017 QX70 comes fitted with 21-inch aluminum multi-spoke wheels and all-season V-rated tires. The larger grille does lend the vehicle sharper look compared to the predecessor. The larger air intakes do better job of keeping the engine cool. There are spoilers on the roof which give the vehicle a sporty look. Nissan has said it will be sold in some new exciting colors. The usage of carbon fiber and aluminum alloys ensures the vehicle becomes lighter than both rivals and predecessor.
Inside the cabin of the 2017 Infiniti Qx70, you will find aesthetic looking graphite seats that have integrated heating and cooling features. The enhancements include aluminum flake trim, open-pore wood trim and aluminum-trimmed pedals. As expected with a luxury SUV, the 2017 Infiniti QX70 does not skimp on entertainment quotient. The connectivity options like USB ports, Bluetooth, WI-Fi hot spot are present there. For optimum comfort in inclement weather, the cabin is equipped with newest dual zone climate control system. There is a touch screen display mounted on the dashboard. Even the lighting in the cabin is based on Led technology. However, interior is not as spacious as some of the rivals and the same can be said about the cargo area. Even with rear seats folded the cargo space falls short of that offered by the rival SUVs. For an upscale SUV that enjoys widespread popularity in visor markets, Nisan has ensured safety features are not skimmed. Therefore, the 2017 Infiniti QX70 comes with adequate safety features. These include multiple airbags, Parking assist, Cruise control, Lane assist. The Low light detector technology ensures in inadequate lighting situations, the fog lamps are lit automatically. There is inbuilt Collision alert system as well and a rearview camera. There are also antilock disc brakes, active front head restraints and stability and traction control. Infotainment options are adequate and you get the option to buy additional packages to up the ante. The optional Sport package brings dark exterior trim, contrast stitching, adaptive headlights. In Touring package, you get things like maple interior accents, quilted leather upholstery. The Premium package adds surround-view cameras, navigation system, voice recognition etc. Top of the line Technology package has pre-crash seat belts for front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers etc. One area where Nissan lags behind rivals is cabin noise shuffling. The 2017 Infiniti QX70 does not insulate noise that well like some of its rivals.
2017 Infiniti QX70 – Modification under the Hood
Inside the hood of the 2017 Infiniti Qx70, there sits a 3.7 liter V6 engine. It may not be the category best but still generates 325 horsepower. However, industry buzz is that Nissan may choose to use a newer engine to replace the Twin-Turbo V6 unit that will generate 350 horsepower. The fuel economy is not exactly stellar though. The 3.7 liter V6 engine is powerful enough to reach 60 mph to zero in less than 6 seconds. The top rated speed is 155 mph. This is not bad considering size of the 2017 Infiniti QX70. The engine is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission unit. You can opt for AWD. The ride quality is however somewhat firm, more so on urban roads.
2017 Infiniti QX70 – Pricing and Availability
The 2017 Infiniti QX70 will start selling by the end of 2016, as per the reports. The price can begin at $45000 and go up to $50000 based on customization. Nissan has made some notable enhancements in the 2017 Infiniti QX70 and the SUV may retain its popularity. The styling is good and usage of lightweight materials can improve its overall performance. However, it will have to cope with some competitors in its segment. The main rivals are Volvo XC90 and Porsche Cayenne both of which trample it in feature department as well as interior space. The front seats are really good but the same cannot be said about the rear seats. With moderate pricing Nissan can however hit the sweet spot.
