2017 Mazda CX-4 Review, Price

The Mazda Koeru concept made a lot of heads turn when it was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. The company had said it was an attempt to get into the fast growing crossover SUV segment. The production version of the prototype is ready to hit the road, as per the latest updates. The 2017 Mazda CX-4 sits in a middle spot between the company’s Mazda3 and CX-5. Officially, the car will be unveiled at the upcoming 2016 Beijing Auto Show- as per the company sources.

The 2017 Mazda CX-4 looks close to the previously shown Koeru concept and the Kodo design language  is very much in use. There is the well-known shield-shaped grille and a sculpted engine hood.  The fancy chrome frame extends into the car’s headlamps. At the rear part of CX-4, there are large tail lights. In fact, the rear lights are bigger than that of Koeru’s. The exhaust pipes now pop out. The windscreen is tall and lower tailgate sports smoother design. The wheels are not very fancy though. Overall, it exudes a sporty feels albeit in a refined way.


The cabin of 2017 Mazda CX 4 is stylish but not overtly fancy. It resembles the cabin of CX 5 more than that of the Koeru concept. The layout is similar with infotainment screen positioned above A/C vents. Even the steering wheel and center console is reminiscent of CX 5. You also get contrast stitching and aluminum inserts which ensures a premium finish. Thanks to the coupe configuration, this model will be less spacious compared to the CX-5. It is still roomier than the Koeru concept. The exact trunk capacity is not yet known.

The 2017 Mazda CX-4 is likely to hit the road with similar engine powering the binger sibling, aka CX -5. So, the car is likely to include the 2.0-liter SkyActiv unit with 155 HP or a more powerful 2.5-liter unit with 184HP. In some countries, a diesel version with beefier 2.2-liter engine producing 147 HP may be used. You will get either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. You get AWD as optional. The 2017 Mazda CX-4 is not short on entertainment quotient. The Mazda CONNECT infotainment is thee as is the 3-piece instrument cluster inspired by McLaren 650S.

The actual price of Mazda CX-4 2017 is not yet known. However, industry experts think it will be priced close to the CX-5. The pricing of latter begins at $21,795 in The USA. The Mazda CX-4 will be manufactured in China, as per company sources. It will be put on sale soon after the upcoming Beijing Auto Show in April 2016. The car will not be sold in the USA now. Overall, the 2017 Mazda CX-4 seems like a promising contender based on the Koeru concept. It will lock horns with Nissan Qashqai. Mazda has improved quality and equipments in its models but its models cannot still match the premium German crossover and couples.
