Opel, the German car manufacturer which is a part of GM makes the subcompact crossover SUV Mokka. The Opel Mokka which made its debut 4 years back has proved to be a successful contender in its segment. In the UK, the model is sold as the Vauxhall Mokka. In countries like North America and China, it is sold as the Buick Encore. The 2017 Opel Mokka was showcased this year at the Geneva Motor show and as expected, it drew attention. The car is based on GM’s Gamma II platform and has sold in good numbers since its debut.
2017 Opel Mokka – Fresh New Look Promised
The Opel has given some noticeable makeover to the Mokka for 2017 iteration as far as the exterior is concerned. The grille has been redesigned and the rear lights have also been altered to an extent. The new black mesh grille gels well with led headlamps. There is LED daytime running lights at the front too. The design language is somewhat reminiscent of the Opel Astra K hatchback. The 2017 Mokka X will come in two new vibrant exterior colors, namely Absolute Red and Amber Orange.
The interior of 2017 Opel Mokka is elegant but not gaudy. The dashboard is like Opel Astra hatchback while its instrument panel has streamlined design. The car will also get an 8-inch touch screen display and IntelliLink infotainment system. There is support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The cabin will also be equipped with dual zone climatic control. Bluetooth and USB will also be offered as standard. However, the cargo space is not exactly what you will call generous. The Opel Mokka will not skimp on safety and entertainment quotient as well. The safety features like Collision Alert, Traffic Sign Assistant, and Lane Departure Warning is there. You also get stability control, Traction control, blind sports warning, antilock braking system, and several airbags.
2017 Opel Mokka – Powered for Efficiency
The Opel Mokka 2017 will get 1.6-liter “silence diesel” engines. The gasoline version will get a 1.4-liter Direct Injection Turbo unit. It will be mated with a capable 6-speed automatic transmission unit. The system will also have AWD. This engine generates 152 hp. The two diesel engines generate 110 and 136 hp. The mileage offered by the engines is likely to be moderate.
2017 Opel Mokka – When Will Hit the Showrooms?
Opel has not said anything officially about availability or release date of the 2017 Mokka X. However, it is likely that the car will be made available for sale in mid-2017. It is going to be priced aggressively to take on the stiff competition in its segment. The average price for the base model can be close to $25,000. Overall, the 2017 Opel Mokka looks like an interesting contender. It has got stylish looks and the safety features bundled are quite adequate too. However, that does not mean it will get away without facing the competition. The main rivals are Nissan Juke and Toyota C-HR. However, with aggressive pricing and value for money proposition, the 2017 Opel Mokka may get the edge eventually.
