Skoda has been making efforts to come up with a striking contender in the premium SUV segment for some time. The Czech automaker is all set to some up with a large 7 seater SUV that will hit production line by 2017. The upcoming Skoda Kodiaq may be shown in 2016 at the car shows at end of the year. The premium SUV will offer Skoda a chance to ride over the disappointment of Yeti. Reportedly, it will have some elements in common with the impressive Volkswagen Tiguan. It would be a development on VisionS SUV concept that was shown at Geneva Motor show.
2017 Skoda Kodiaq 7 Seater SUV – Fresh New Look Promised
The VisionS SUV which will be the base for upcoming Skoda Kodiaq has drawn applause from industry experts for its blend of style and aggressive looks. Originally it was supposed to be launched with the moniker Snowman but the final name is Kodiaq, as per industry sources. The upcoming crossover is also likely to have a 5 seater version. Skoda has said the SUV will have characteristics typical of its class including ample storage space, high driving position and excellent visibility.
The interior is likely to be graced by infotainment screens. The trademark grille and sharp character lines are reminiscent of Yeti. It is likely to be way bigger than the Yeti though. However, the design language also reflects traces of Skoda models like Fabia and Superb. There will be three rows of seats inside the cabin. The 2017 Skoda Kodiaq has not revealed much about the amenities to be made available inside the cabin of this SUV. However, it is likely to get components and features from the Fabia. There will be a couple of large 16 inch displays.

The 2017 Skoda Kodiaq 7 Seater SUV is likely to be powered by the same power train that is there in the sibling Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Octavia. The 2.0 L TDI Diesel and 1.8 TSI Petrol engines will power the Kodiaq 7 Seater SUV. In future the company may also launch a hybrid version, However, 2017 Skoda Kodiaq 7 Seater SUV is yet to confirm this officially and the SUV may only be released in fuel driven versions in 2017. It will have 4 cylinder diesel and petrol engines. There will be both automatic and manual transmission system in the model. AWD will be there as an option.

Skoda will start selling the Kodiaq SUV in 2017 after it is showcased in the upcoming Paris Motor Show. It will be sold both in Asia and other emerging markets by the company in 2017. It will have to battle the likes of popular rivals like the Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Fortuner. Skoda may adopt a reasonable pricing strategy for the upcoming SUV, assume industry insiders. This is logical given the steep price tag of Yeti turned out to be its Achilles’ heel.
