Among the top-selling and versatile SUVS, the mighty Volkswagen Tiguan deserves a special mention. The base versions come with front-wheel drive while all the other versions have the 4 MOTION all-wheel drive either as standard or as option. The 7-speed dual clutch DSG transmission is mated to the improved engines in the 2017 VW Tiguan. The base models however come equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission unit. The 7-speed DSG transmission units offer both sport and normal modes. The company is upbeat about the new 4 MOTION AWD system used in the 2017 VW Tiguan. The 4 MOTION active control system is designed especially for Volkswagen’s AWD vehicles. With the active control, you can pick from 4 driving modes regular, individual, off-road and snow. The 4 MOTION system basically distributes power to all wheels of the SUV. By default the front wheels get power but to prevent slip and better traction, the system engages the rear axle too, as and when required. The regular mode suffices for highway and city driving and even tackles lightly snow-clad roads. In Off road mode, Hill Descent Assist and Hill Start Assist get activated.

The base 2017 VW Tiguan will be made available in Europe by middle of 2016. Owing to its numerous enhancements and not so steep pricing, VW Tiguan 2017 actually may have to face many contenders. It will battle category rivals like Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4 and Kia Sportage. These cars fall a tad short of the upgraded German SUV despite their attractive price tags.
