Months before the new 2018 VW Tiguan is officially introduced to the public, a lot is expected from it. After all, even for a segment that has continued to witness some of the biggest competitions, the upcoming model is expected to pull ahead of the pack. If you are a big fan of VW Tiguan, here is what we are likely to see come next year.
2018 VW Tiguan – Exterior and Interior Design
When it comes to the exterior, there is a lot of work that is going to go into it. The upcoming 2018 VW Tiguan is going to get an increase in size from the existing model, with around 7 inches in additional length and another 6.5 inches of additional wheelbase. In other news, while a lot about the exterior have been kept behind closed doors, based on a number of conversation, we have been able to piece together a picture of the new VW Tiguan 2018.
For example, the maker will offer LED lights technology across the range with a prominent grille paired with horizontal light work. The car is also going to feature strong lines on the side. The interior is also going to be one of the key highlights. It is bigger than what we saw in the 2017 model, having a 3-row seat and the same size boot storage. Plus, considering the car is still a few months away, we expect the passenger’s and driver’s comfort to be taken to a whole new level.
Quality and comfy materials are all going to go into the finishing of the inside. As for the standard features, we are looking at parking assist, lane assist, the navigation system, and a state of the art technology package to entertain the driver and the passengers as well.
2018 VW Tiguan – Engine and Performance
When we look at the engine, this where the automaker is going to keep things a bit interesting. According to our sources, we are likely to see a 205 hp 2.0-liter engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Gas mileage is expected to shows one of the biggest improvements, getting you around 22 mpg/city and 27 mpg highway.
It is not even going to stop there, base models of the 2018 VW Tiguan are going to be propelled by a 2.0-liter I-4 engine. The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan could come as a seven-seat model in higher trims and these models could get bigger engines. We are likely to see 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel 4-cylinder or turbocharged Miller-cycle 2.0-liter unit with direct injection. US market is going to get diesel powertrains.
2018 VW Tiguan – Price and Release Date
Expected to go on sale in early 2017, the price of the new 2018 VW Tiguan has not yet been announced by the maker. However, a shift in production from Germany to Mexico is expected to bring the car’s price down.
As we wait for the automaker to give us official figures, word has it that buyers should expect to see the Tiguan R-Line start at $29,000, S Price at $25,400, SE at $31,600 and finally SEL starting at $34,900. Let’s not get excited, though; the figures could change once the car is officially released. Nevertheless, it is the car to watch out for.
